Mount Kailash is a 21,778 feet high peak in the Kailash Range which forms part of the Transhimalaya in the Ngari Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region, China. Mount Kailash is sacred in four religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.

The mountain is located near two lakes: Lake Manasarovar and Lake Rakshastal, close to the source of some of the longest Asian rivers: the Indus, Sutlej, Brahmaputra, and Karnali also known as Ghaghara (a tributary of the Ganges) in India. Lake Mansarovar, which lies at an altitude of 14,950 ft, is considered as the highest freshwater lake in the world whereas Lake Rakshas Tal is the highest salt-water lake in the world. Also, Lake Manasarovar remains calm throughout any weather conditions whereas Lake Rakshas Tal is constantly stormy.
In spite of numerous attempts, no climber has succeeded in conquering the peak of Mount Kailash. Climbers’ explained that this holy mountain strangely changes the target and also tends to block the tracks which mislead the climbers.
It is believed that the Mount Kailash is the centre of the earth and four faces of the holy mountain faces the four directions of the compass. It’s location is in synchronization with several ancient monuments in the world and the Earth’s poles.

The distance of the South Pole from the peak of Mount Kailash is 13332 km.
According to Russian scientists Mount Kailash is too perfect and symmetrical; it’s extremely perpendicular sides give it the appearance of a pyramid. They suggested that perhaps the mountain is not a mountain at all; it is a giant man-made pyramid from ancient times.
It has been reported by many travellers that time travels quickly around the Mount Kailash and highlights the rapid aging factor. For example: Many Hikers reported that they felt as if their nails and hairs had grown quickly within 12 hours otherwise it would had taken around two weeks time to grow that many nails and hairs anywhere else in the world.
As per Vishnu Purana, the four faces of the Mount Kailash are made of crystal, ruby, gold, and lapis lazuli. The east face is made of crystal, the south face is made of lapis lazuli, the west face is made of ruby and the north face is made of gold.
