Purpose of human life

 

Have you ever thought about why this world is created and how this world is created? This is a quite common philosophical question but an important one. If we look around, we will be amazed to see so many things created naturally in the universe. Have you ever wondered, how these things were originated naturally and that's a big question on our existence too on this universe?

 

To answer this question based on my understanding, I would like to take an example of a painter. We know when painter is working on his painting, he/she puts all his/her best efforts along with creativity to get great results in the form of his painting.

 

So let's assume God is that brilliant painter who created this beautiful world using the full creativity and as a result we can see billions of God’s creations in the form of people, birds, animals, trees, flowers, colours, stars, clouds, ocean and many more natural things around us. After the human creation, God thought to enhance this creation by adding a life to it, so that humans can understand the purpose of this creation. God provided the thinking power to the humans assuming they will follow the righteous path towards understanding this creation and the purpose beneath it. In addition to this, God created more and more natural utilities for living things to survive in this Universe. God presumed that humans would utilize their thinking capabilities for the benefit of the universe and spread their understanding of this knowledge. Initially, humans definitely thought about these questions on their existence, the purpose of their living. Their questions would revolve around who created this whole universe and how they came into existence. The array of these questions led to such a human revolution that they started thinking they are the best creation and they started indulging themselves more into creating utilities to help their survival on this universe rather than their focus on the original questions of their existence. This focus gradually drifted from finding the truth towards inventing new things that will make human lives better on this earth. In the process, they even forgot that they are not the only species on the earth, they must survive with other living species too. The humans started considering themselves as the best species on the earth. They started exploitation of other natural resources just for themselves. In this process, they got diverted from their original motives of finding the truth (the answers to that question) or the purpose of their existence and other creations of God.

 

As the focus had drifted from knowing the truth towards the human survival. A lot of emphasis was put on the quality of life. To make human lives better, so many inventions were made, and the higher importance was given to the quality of lives in this world. The quality of life was determined by your worldly possessions. The real meaning of life was forgotten, and people started running after the accumulation of these worldly possessions. But if these are the real factors to determine the quality of your life then what about the unhappiness of people who have otherwise achieved all these worldly possessions around which their everyday life is based upon. Not all the rich and profound people are happy. They have their own stories too.

 

You should remember that these were not the original criteria to determine the quality of your life. If you really want to determine the quality of life, then measure your life on various aspects of spirituality and humanity.

 

Always remember, life is not just about the success in your professional career. Neither it’s is about your physical appearance nor it is about the measure of your worldly possessions. It's much bigger than all of these things.

 

Virtuous people have always known about it and that is why they always focused on us being happy, healthy, and wise. If we follow the wisdom of knowledgeable people, we will understand that they knew something, not known or understood by everyone. So just believe on yourself and follow the righteous path. It is rightly said by Swami Vivekanand that “You cannot Believe in God until you believe in yourself”.
